i think it is for an a mechanically driven fuel pump, however 8mm is better for an electronic fuel pump depending on the pressure needed, although i could be wrong so dont take my word for it. while on the subject are 1200 coupes 6mm or 8mm standard?

The stock Datsun 1200 fuel lines are 1/4-inch (6.3 mm). It doesn't matter whether you are using mechanical or electric fuel pump. The Datsun carb (or the Weber 32/36) uses low pressure, low volume so 1/4 line is appropriate.

Most V8s use 5/16 inch fuel lines (8 mm).

Last week I worked on a 1978 truck with 7.5 liter engine (Chevrolet big-block 454) and it used stock 3/8 fuel line.

Ive got 3/8 fuelline in my coupe (worked A15 with twin carbs) with twin electric 4 psi fuel-flo branded fuel pumps and it runs really well.

The standard 1/4 inch fuel line is good for at least 100 hp. 5/16 would be good for 250 hp or so ... Quote:
Up to 250HP = 5/16" or -04 AN
Up to 375HP = 3/8" or -06 AN
