Hi,
Is there any bolt on diff transplants for a 1200 sedan?
I have been told by many that a 1200 Ute diff with a series 1 bluebird centre works and it is a bolt on mod, for a Ute or coupe. But the 1200 Ute diff to a sedan body transfer is a bit of work. (Welding and different bolts and so on)
Is there any other easier way in which you are not required to weld and or make any other major mods.
I know I

The early 1200 ute diff is the same as the sedan ... only the later one is bigger.

Neither require welding. For more details, see What Diff?.

For the H145 rear axle, as used in non ute 1200's you can use the H150 diff center. There seems to be some contraversy about the need for a spacer ring to allow this diff to be fitted.
Pitroad in Japan sell a spacer ring to allow this conversion, however one of our members advises that he has done this conversion, & that he did not need a spacer.

The H150 diff is available in 3.9 to 1, which duplicates the original 1200 ratio, plus a 3.7 to 1, that was available in 'some' Australian Sunny wagons, as well as a 3.54 to 1 ratio. You would need to source this ratio from overseas

He said "1200" -- all Datsun 1200 (B110) have rear leaf-spring suspension. At least according to my repair books and parts catalogs.

As usual, you are right.
It's the shock absorber arangement that i focused on & i spoke [wrote] first, then checked later. Thats not a good aproach.

My apologies for the misinformation.

I had been robbing a few parts from the 200B SX parts car in my yard earlier & mentally linked the rear suspension in these to the 1200 without thinking.
I'l give myself an uppercut. [OUCH]

PS. The offending misinformation has been deleted.

I have just fitted a ute diff to my 2 door,Ihad a 120y diff that I robbed the shocky mounts had a mate weld them on.
I am stiil to to the brake pipes as from memory the flexible hose are ass about between the two diffs and bear in mind that you will need the U bolts and plates as the housing is bigger.

Good point. The coupe and sedan shock-mounting plates are different. The late-model ute ones will be different again since the U-bolt spacing is different.
