Hello again everyone. I am still working on moding my Datsun 1200, I have decided to put a NAPS-Z22 engine with a 89 240sx 5 spd gearbox. The mods that I have done to the engine so far are, it started out as a Z20 and bored the block to acomodate Z22 pistons, the head is at the machine shop right now gettin a street port, port match, and a 3 angle valve grind. I have purchased a dual side draft HKS intake and side draft Mikuni carbs, I also have a header that I had Aluma coated to keep it looking pretty . I have a MSD 6AL ignition box, and was planning on purchasing some coils for it. My question is what should i do for brakes, suspension and rear diff, and If any Z series speacialist know what oil pan to use because the engine came out of a 720 so the sump is in the back and is hitting the crossmember. Also what interior upgrades would anyone suggest? I was planning on puttin 91 Integra seats but as far as a center console and gauge cluster what would you all do? Thanks for all the info that anyone provides. JamesGreaseMonky81@aol.comQuote:

I have looked through the tech section but I am not sure what the best mods would be I heared that the rear diff out of a 720 would work in the 1200, and if thats the case can I convert the front hubs to acomodate the 720 brakes so i can have matching bolt patterns all the way around? Which brake upgrades would be the best, and wich suspension upgrades are the best?

Hi GreaseMonky, almost nobody here has done a Z-type engine swap into a 1200.

The 720 Datsun pickup front suspension ... I've never heard it done. The 720 of course has the 6-bolt wheels like a Chevy Pickup.

The problem with the 720 rear end is that it's mighty heavy, and way overkill for a Z22 engine.

There is no "best". There's only what you do ... In my opinion the best upgrade is "no upgrade". In other words "Keep it simple" and "if it's not broken, don't fix it". The stock front disc brakes work, and the main reason our Aussie friends update the front suspension brakes is because they are legally required to when fitting bigger engines.
