Well problem is 1200 Sedan's dont fetch much anyway, the utes come with crazy price tags... i think for $4000 it would have to be in smick condition and have all those nice GX extras.

P.s where as a perfect 1200 ute with GX specs (webers etc etc) usally go from $6000-10000 , just because the utes are more popular in OZ

I've heard you say this before, I'm not sure there's any difference in price between a Ute and a Sedan or Coupe or Wagon. The Newer South African Utes fetch money because they have A/C and can be in good low rust condition. Maybe it's different up north.

It's just that Utes are much much more plentiful, so people have more cars for sale to choose from.
I reckon a good GX sedan would be worth AU$3000-$12000 (for a GX-5)

I'd pay up to AU$15,000 for an original GX5 Sedan with < 40,000mi on the clock.

There is a dirty old GX sedan on Ebay for $750 in Melbourne at the moment. No GX Bonnet though.. I thought that was interesting.

Thats the one im looking at dattodude, the only problem is the missing bonnet and badges, which will be hard to find and expensive if i do get a hold of some. It looks like an easy restore and for a genuine GX you cant go past $750,
Im considering either restoring this and saving my ute for later or swapping my ute's running gear into this.

And there are a lot of utes, i saw 3 on my way home tonight. Its wagons you dont see

Yeah. I'd consider it , if I lived in Melbourne. The moving of the car can be a pain.

It does look like an original GX, I was worried at first, but it's got all the right holes for the badges. Including the badges that go on the rear/side panels. The build plate is interesting in that this must be a private import from South Africa, maybe a brother car of 1200GXman

It's pretty cool. And good if you wanted to start a new project. To try and restore it to original condition wouldn't be easy.

It'll need a suspension overhaul, some rust repairs, some panel beating, a respray and interior retrim. An engine bay cleanup and polish. Should be doable for less than $10,000.

I'd definitely be looking at 1200rc for a GX bonnet if I was looking at buying this GX...which I'm not!

Happy decision making,
Chris

I think it is possible that it is a import from South Africa if it does'nt have the GX bonnet. No such bonnets in South Africa.
Damn, I wish I could get the GX bonnet.
The Datsun sedans in South Africa all look the same.Only difference is with the Badges that shows if it is a GX or not.

The best price I could get for my GX was 19000 south african rand.
The worst offer was 16000 rand.
If someone could please convert it for us to aussie dollars please

With 19000 I would have gotten back all the money I poured into it.
I think it was a pretty good price.

With the extra stuff I did recently (Ignitor and larger radiator) I must ask about 20500 south african rand.
But we all know I will never sell.

Out west there is definately a difference. You are lucky to get $1000 for a sedan, where as utes range from $2000 up to $5000.... (thats in stock condition)
they don't seem as popular to do up around here though.
