I want 2 get it done right so im not going 2 use the baseball bat. What do i need 2 be expecting. Will i need 2 get the guards resprayed???, will i need 2 get new guards as these ones are dinged up.Do i take it to a panel beaters??? Can somebody help me out please

Using the baseball bat is the right way.. It's who's got hold of the bat that determines the result. Otherwise pay $50/corner for a wheel/tyre shop to do it using an expensive flaring tool, who's design is only a few years old, I will use this method when I get my wheels/tyres fitted. I did my old guards with some water pipe I had laying around.

If the guards are already a bit stuffed, what do you have to lose?

You might need to get the guard edge "touched up" if it cracks as a result of the flaring. They can use some paint and thinners on a small paintbrush, depends.

Hope this helps a bit.
Chris

a suspension place flared my front guards for $50.... but i did have to repaint my guards because the paint cracked...

since your guards already need repairs you might aswell go straight to the panel shop...

To get any sort of clearance with my car l had to totally panel beat the guards on all 4 corners (around 2 inches further out).

If you are running big rims &/or rubber which are rubbing, i wouldn't muck around with lipping the guards, just go straight to a panel beater and get it done right.

Or if you are handy with the tools, panel beat it yourself, then just get it painted.

I had mine lipped first, and all it did was rub the tyre....which ends up costing more than the paint job!!!!!

Oh yeah, l agree about the baseball bat working......but l wreckon you'd still need/want to paint the guard anyway.

You sound like a candidate for some 50mm fibreglass flares.

Got a drill and a screwdriver?

If you fit the fibreglass flares you trim off the inner excess of the guard - about 2 inches and the flares go out an extra 2 inches at the top.

May give you enough clearance. I have always had problems with flaring guards as much as you desire. The metal is stretched severely and tends to crack easily and its hard to get a good finish without body filler.
