Been having lots and lots of problems with my gear box, now a friend of mine who owns a datto suggested i remove the docks (sp) from the box. Says he done the same to his and is no longer giving any problems.

Ummm, maybee i haven't been around long enough, but what are these docks [sp] that you can remove from the box?

What model is your transmission, & what kind of trouble does it give? Also, under what operating conditions does this trouble occur?
The usual method for repairing these things is to strip & overhaul. The other alternative is to replace with a used example, but with an overhaul you get a nice freshened up trans in a KNOWN condition.

Ain't a mechanic as such but last time the box was opened the mech showed me some pieces of metal said they are called docks (like i said spelling might be wrong) If you look at a synchroniser you will find about three pieces of metal that hook onto the synchroniser about three per synchroniser. The problem with the box is it keeps on getting jammed in gear 3 or Reverse

Removing these parts, & the associated springs & other parts will remove the synchronider function completely. If you like to double shuffle every gearchange, & it can be fun, then go right ahead, but plan "B" might just be the go.

Since it would be necessary to strip the box to remove these parts anyway, it might be an idea to get the workshop manual, & overhaul the box completely, returning everything to within service limits, just like the book says. You may have to spend a few dollars on some new parts, but the end result will be a gearbox that is a pleasure to drive.
Just a thought, but if removing the synchro parts makes the gearbox better, then Nissan would have done it decades ago.

P.S. It looks like my 1200 parts book calls these "docks" an "insert - shifting" Not very sexy, but descriptive i suppose. I'm sure that there is an industry standard name for them, but it escapes me just now.

If you fill in a few basic details about yourself, like which country [etc.] you are in, then the members can often be more site specific when offering advice as some things vary from place to place.
P.S. You can call me Chris.

If it is getting jammed in gear, it means that the wearing of parts had created too muck endfloat on the gears. This allows the gear to moved slightly to a point wear it is jammed against the other gear and cannot be disengaged by useing the gearstick.
