wiring diagram help

hey guys, im still having trouble connecting my tachometer.
i know its ment to be easy and everything but i cant get it to work.
so i refered to this

and came across this...
i need to connect the part in the red box but it looks like a bunch of lines to me.
can some one who can read this do me a favour and tell me what this means, even photos of where i hook the wires too would be even better
would be much appreciated

studying the pic further, does this mean i need one wire to on a side of the resistor, and one on the wire that goes to the fuse box, or both wires on the side of the resistor?

i thought this might help me understand.
as illustrated in the pic, this is what i guessed how the wiring would work but im not sure.

in this page there is an illustration.. its got the loop and the two other wires.. lol where do those two go? i think this might be my problem..

dude..

You have to cut the RUN IGN wire "BW" (wire with ballast resistor), and place the wire that loops on the back of the factory tacho into this wire. Check polarity first. It will go backwards one way, and forwards if wired the other way.

The tacho line is "in-line", not in parallel.
