I removed my fuel tank as part of my upgrade, while i painted underneath, and have recently put it back in. I have had problems putting the fuel hoses back onto the tank. (These are the ones that go from the fuel filler to the tank, not the fuel lines)

are there any hints/tips/techniques i could use to get them back on?

If they are hard and stiff replace them if not try some boiling water to soften them. Once to get a hose on i used a tappered bit of steal and kept pushing it into the pipe while pouring hot water which made it that fraction bigger and it went on.

Use a lubricant, WD40 etc. . . Only for the hoses. . .

your sump is a mobile oil can.

a drip of oil on the bung will help things immensely.
