I may not be in the right place, but here goes. I recently bought a '71 510 wagon, i have fell in love with it. I am wondering about the options for a tranny replacement, it is now a 4 speed on the floor, how can I make this a 5 speed?

So,... you have "fallen" in love with your 510 wagon, well that can only be a good thing. The five speed tranny from the series one & two Bluebird is a good choice & they are overdrive types. Another is the dogleg five speed from the 200B SSS, & these are also overdrive trannys, but a bit hard to find & they really offer no real advantage over the Bluebird one.
All of these trannys were originally fitted to L series engines & may even fit right up into your chassis with a bit of luck.

First question is where are you located?

That makes all the difference in the world.

the shorter boxes would be the better option (same length as the 510's 4spd), but as tens_and_twenties said, it depends on where in the world he is... I assume he's in the USA because he referred to it as a 510.

Yeah, in the US your best bet is to find a short tail (short box) 5spd from a 77-79 200Sx. It is a straight bolt-in for a 510
