I've looked around quite a bit the the only one I can find is a Nismo race cam that looks a little too extreme for my application. Requires heavy duty lifters - really for racing. Does anyone else anywhere make a mild street cam for the A14?

Over here in Australia we have quite a few businesses that grind cams. They have many common cams like 25/65, 35/70 etc to suit almost any engine and you can also get custom grinds to suit your specific application. Im sure in america there would have to be places that could do this.

This is australian but have a look what I mean http://tighecams.com.au/cars.htm

Please do go on. That's what these forums are for. And maybe you'll hit upon one in the US ;) I did find the Crow Cams website before I posted this but the only thing I saw was a listing of Datsun OHC cams. Didn't know they had other applications. Sent an email inquiry but got nothin. But seriously if you know of other sources please post them here. I did search google for quite awhile actually and kept coming up empty. Maybe I jsut "suck at the internet". LOL

Also could someone explain difference between buying an aftermarket with a particular grind and with just having the stock cam ground? If you end up with the same thing then why doens't everyone just grind the stock cam? Sorry if these are dumb questions but I'm just learning here. THanks -
Michael

i think if you want some radical duration or absurd lift, then you need to get a new cam because the existing "meat" on the std cam won't allow for it.

if you want something mild like a 25/65, 25/68, 28/68 etc etc you can have the std cam reground because there is enough material left on the cam to still make it strong (not like the 1UZ ... regrind = broken cam lobes!) and the now difference in lobe diameter can be made up with a few adjustments.

that's my understanding of it anyways - open to correcton as always

I think I'm starting to figure it out now. I've found a couple of US places who have good experience with A series cams and offer several grinds, both for about $100. www.iskycams.com is one. This page is for the "DATSUN: 4 Cyl. 1300 cc (B-210) & LATE 1200 cc Pushrod Engine (A-12)". That shoudl also work for the A14/15 right? Which of those listed would be best for mild street performance (good drivability etc)? I'm guessing the one listed at the top based on the shorter duration and lower lift.

I think either crower or competition cams makes 2 for the a14/a15 already. It is in their catalog. Just go to their respective website and you can order one. I dont know how much they run but I do know they are streetable. let me know if you need more info.
