I've noticed very occasionally that when I put my key in the ignition and turn one click to the right - without engaging the starter - the engine will for a split second jolt a bit, like it's about to turn over and start. I was talking to a mechanic mate the other day and he said that it's usually a sign that the distributor is having issues...

I've got a standard A12 distributor with one of those Petronix kits in it - it's been in there for a few years with no problems. Highly recommend the conversion actually.

Can anyone shed any light as to what is happening.

Sounds fine to me, take two aspirin and call me in the morning.

Luck of the draw where the engine stops.

Happens everynow and then. . .

I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm not that worried about it - I've always carried a set of points just in case there was ever an issue with the Petronix Ignitor.

But curiosity has now taken a firm hold of me... why does this happen?

Like most people on this site I need to know what the state of health is with my car at all times... if only I cared for my girlfriend in the same way.

well she works for a phone sex company so theres a good chance she spoke to Chris for about 10 seconds the other night.
