does anyone else on here use Firefox for a webbrowser? Im using version 1.0.1 and it doesnt like this site at all!!! (must be a commonwhore driver )

All my firewalls are set to medium and ive tried them on all levels but it still only lets me in on here once in a while, like 1 out of 3 times when i get on here it will say Datsun1200.com is not responding and cannot connect blah blah...

I hate using internet explorer, so much spyware gets thru that and ITS the reason i had to re-format the other day....grrr

Anyone else with this problem?

Dave

omg it just did it then when trying to submit this!

firefox is great and IE should bite the dust. download it here.
i dont experience the same problems as you at all. is your internet connection directly into your computer ?

get spybot search and destroy. when its downloaded and installed, change the shortcut on the desktop to read this as the target.

"C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SpybotSD.exe" /AUTOCHECK /AUTOFIX /AUTOCLOSE /autoupdate /autoimmunize

copy/paste the whole line.
running that at least weekly will keep your spyware/adware at a minimum.

Also use Ad-Aware SE Personal. Update and run it weekly. I tell this same information to lots and lots of people all the time. dont work in computers - annoying things like spyware make the job that little more ####ed.

as for the difficulty connecting to datsun1200.com, try opening a DOS prompt and typing

ping datsun1200.com

or

ping datsun1200.com -t
(to ping non stop)

this'll tell you if your computer can reach datsun1200.com, then you can see if its the browsers fault.

why?

oh, and ping times of around 550 ms which isn't bad comparing to google.com with 320 ms

I Have Firefox and i have never had a problem, only "problem" i had was with one of the themes for this site was the fonts were too small but thats it. maybe just uninstall it and re-install it. might have a bad setting or something in there is blocking it.

yeah i duno its just this site or maybe the xoops supported sites (havent been or joined to any others...)
iVe tried re-installing it and changing all properties but it still does the same thing. And i am using spy bot v1.3 & ad-aware v1.5 all searching weekley and picking up various objects here and there.

I have narrowed it down to maybe it due to my computer is on a network at home we all connect to our ADSL thru a router thus maybe this is causing problems as its been playing up a bit recantley.....

But i can live with it, only sometimes!!
any other suggestions?

Dave

why what? why get spybot or why change the target?
1.cuz its good for your computer if you use internet explorer regularly
2.you do this because it does lots of special stuff. cheq out the syntax's --> /AUTOCHECK /AUTOFIX /AUTOCLOSE /autoupdate /autoimmunize

datrat_dave: the router shouldnt be effecting anything unless its a crap one and you need to turn it off then on again all the time to keep ti working. ADSL is unreliable sometimes. even my cable connection sux for connecting to datsun1200.com the other cable company in AU , optus also connects slowly to datsun1200.com
ill be down in tassie in a few weeks mite be able to drop in and look@ it.. it could probably do with a firmware upgrade eheh. (like most retail routers)
