hello all datsun buffs.
I went for a drive about 3 weeks ago and drove past a house with a 120y coupe sitting on the front lawn in average condition.
So I decided to pull up and take a look at it, I knocked on the door and asked what was he going to do with it, and he said that he was thinking of crushing it, and that I could have it for free if I wanted it, so I said TOO RIGHT!
As he had a sedan and only bought it for the motor and gearbox.
It has a great rear hatch, tailights, bonnet etc. So I picked it up on a trailer the next day.

hi tom 210 and every other datto fan
The datto 120y coupe iI picked up for free was only suitable for parts as the body is very average cond.
Its a 74 model, it had no motor, gearbox tailshaft. Basically it was a rolling shell.
The hatch was in quite good nick and good glass etc. I have pulled a lot of the parts of it that I think are worth keeping.
But when I get rid of it in the not to distant future, it will be basically a empty shell.

Anyway maybe I will see you on the 3rd at the tailrace for the datto meet. So we can chat more.
Great talking to you.

i suppose you are keeping the bonnet as mine has rust and a dent in a ridge that wont come out, and what colour is it, when you say empty shell is that with wheels and doors as it might make a good place to start for a project and i may be interested when you get rid of it. cheers Tom

hi tom 210
About the coupe that i picked up for free.
When i get rid of it, there wont be any diff, front suspension, doors, guards etc left.
The passenger door has some rust right along the bottom edge which is very lumpy.
As I said earlier the body is average, especially around the rear end where the back panel has been. It has benn repaired with bog a long time ago and a lot has broken away.
The only parts that I wont be needing would probably be the front seats and thats probably about it.
Everthing else I have taken off the car. The roof is very straight. The colour is lime green which has been dodgely resprayed over some time ago now.
But if you are interested in an average coupe shell, just let me know in this forum,( It would save me a lot of hassle trailering it all the way out to Invermay) as I will most likely be taking to a place off Forster St, I think its called Murphy st, (the st with the indoor go-kart centre in it)
If you follow that st most of the way around, theres a car stipping place on the right hand side, opposite the sewrage treatment plant.
As I have taken another old corolla there once before.
About the bonnet, how much would be the most that you would pay for one?

Hope to hear back from you soon
Bye for now.
