hey

I got an electric weber dgv

I want to know exactly how you set the fast idle when cold

do you screw in the fast idle screw till it touches the cam when the choke butterfly is open or close? and set it to higher rpm than idle depending on the weather.

I tried it when the choke is closed so the screw touches the cam but the butterfly wont open cos of the screw and cam getting stuck. Also when engine is getting cold the butterfly wont close as the screw is on the way of the fast idle cam.

redline states that you have to adjust it when the butterfly is open but then it wont touch the fast idle cam....

Any advice would be great

Cheers!

just blip the throttle intermittently while idling did the trick when i had dgv. i could never get the choke to work or the idle with the water heated choke just had to put up with how it ran....

I have the water choke, it works fine, the screw has to be adjusted so the choke doesn't work after the carb is warmed up, and fast idle, on my A15 is around 1200 - 1500 rpm, there just doesn't seem to have the right mixture at a proper rpm.

have you done the weber baseline tuning that they have in the instructions?
see:
http://stars.studio-art-dept.com/Pictures/Automotive_pdf/weber_dgav_setup.pdf

when i fooled around with the choke last, I mistakenly set the screw in too far and it idles at like 2500 when cold, so i backed it out and it was good, I may have to take a look at the carb and i'll let you know what i see.

I've done the "tuning" mixture and idle seems right, car is running great. Just the cold start issue I just have to hold the accelerator for few a minute or something or it will just stall.

I tried screwing the fast idle screw to the fast idle cam so when the choke butterfly is close it idles higher than normal. The only issue is that when the engine is warm the choke butterfly wont open due to the fast idle blocking or stopping the choke to open or the cam to slide down.

LOL. I'm sorry Razor, but that line, combined with a Brisbane address just seems to be a contradiction in terms to those of us that see snow occasionally.

The last time i was there, in mid winter, i saw blokes in T shirts [insteasd of singlets] wearing shorts [instead of speedo's] & they were keeping their feet warm with fur lined thongs /jandals /flip flops [pick one]
That was my impression of winter in Brisbane at the time.

As for your carb, sorry, but i don't have the book on that one.

that line doesnt mean that its cold as in freezing cold, just below normal summer temp.

I park my car outside normally my windows are just wet from the moisture but this morning i thought its just wet but the windshield is iced from the moisture, its like flakes of ice.

still brisbane or QLD is nothing compared to other parts of australia which are colder.

Im just referring to my weber running on slightly colder temp thus fast idle adjustment must be set so engine will run better and easier to start idle in the mornings.

Dodgeman... your post doesnt really answer my question... so why post/reply on this thread?

After searching in google

I've read that you have to adjust the fast idle screw when the butterfly is closed so that the screw is sitting on the fast idle cam.

Then driver has to blip the throttle to release the fast idle when you think the engine is warm.
Now the problem will be when you shut your engine off the fast idle screw will be blocking the fast idle cam to return to its close position (choke butterfly closed)

so the problem will be on the cold re-starting
