iwas was thinking of an interesting question.....ive got a blower setup ready to go on my rebuilt a14 ...i am using the exact same setup as wally...suck through small blower...etc ...but at the last second i have decided to use an airconditioner clutch pully so i hav the advantage of turning it on and off ...the question i had was the carby setup up will need to be rich enough to run 5psi andwhen turned off be able to run smoothly...because i am running suck through will the engine just suck as much or as little fuel as it needs???? or will it just hav to be turned to suit both conditions

thanks heaps for ur expertese

I would call castlmaine rod shop, they have a kit like that for late model commodores, that ahs a clutch in it so it ccan be turned on or off. they may be able to help with some answers.....

i dunno if your gonna want to turn it off at all though when you get it going!!! it's not like you have the interceptor (mad max) with lots of NA power....

i'd never want to turn off boost

I have a similar set up on my a12. Man why do you want to disengage the blower?
Lets say you could , how do you think it will run with a de-compressed engine trying to suck a fuel/air mix from the remotely mounted carby, through a free wheeling blower, via all your blower plumbing to your inlet manifold !!
Yeh up to s#*t!
Might work on something of a more substantial capacity.
Mate , if I were you I wouldn`t even want to think about it!

the SC12/14 has a magnetic clutch as std fitment - it should be activated by a TPS adapted to your carby / accelerator pedal.

this turns the charger off at idle, with those 3 hoses hooked up to you inlet manifold / air cleaner equalising the pressure before and after the charger to stop the engine sucking the oil out the charger - ala draw thru turbo setup.

yeh good points all round particulaly the point about the engine some how has to suck through the fuel and air through all that piping
its just that cruising to work and back every day i just dont think ill need the boost and all the extra fuel consumption.....ps the engine has been rebuilt strong but not with a decomprestion plate or anything so its got stock compression ratio

you should be getting BETTER fuel consumption with a supercharger in daily traffic...

Fuel consumption usualy depends on the driving style of the driver and the tuning of the car rather than the CC's. My auto a12 uses heaps more fuel than my SR powered car mainly because im either flat stick or on the brake in tha auto a12 cause its so slow, and if i drive flat stick every where in the other car ide have a lot of fines. lol

more air means more fuel - yes (up to stoich anyways).

more air + more fuel = more power.

more power + light car = less torque required to drive said car.

less torque required = less fuel required.
