Got any more record prices? What about in Australia? What about modified 1200s?

I note that bidding for the fastback started at USD3,000.00. There's obviously keen interest in these over there.

The stock coupe referred to was like-new (looks better than the one in the Nissan museum in California). So it is not representative of coupe interest in general ... but yes, there is demand for nice coupes, but very little coupes for sale.

The coupe did look really good in the photo. There would not be too many around in that condition, anywhere.
This will be good news too for Dodgeman, given his current restoration project. While it won't be for sale, he'll be happy that he has an appreciating asset on his hands.

I was offered AUS$22k for my green one at the Datnats Turned the offer down though. I paid AU$3000 for the white stocker, that I got, but I think it's worth $4000-5000.

dude, you were right in turning down the offer of $22k. I always seem to get people interested in my cars after they're restored and I show them in public for the first time. Of course, I haven't yet got nearly any enjoyment out of them yet!

Lets face it boys & girls, the value of 1200's is starting to appreciate. Good & very good examples with excelent bodies will always attract a premium as it's the body that's worth the money. The more desirable, & rarer bodystyles like coupes & the few two door sedans [in Australia] will, during the next few years, come to be sought out by those looking for a legendary, older car. With fuel prices rising as they are, it will be the smaller, legendary older cars that will start to become more desirable, & what could be more legendary than the Datsun 1000,.. oh,... & its younger brother, the 1200.
If you wish to see the value of your car climb in the future, then spend the money on making the body as perfect as you can, complete with new [if possible] lights or lenses. Ten pounds of body filler doesn't count. Rust free original, replacement, or properly repaired panels do. Tasteless body mods are the kiss of economic death except as novelty value. Mark my words young-fellow-me-lad,.. mark my words.
