I dont think thats been done but I think a VQ35 install from a wrecked 350Z would be fantastic.

mmm I can smell a future project coming on.

the RWD gearbox will be the issue with the astina engine.

you might squeeze a SOHC VG30 in there...

or a GM 3.8L V6...

what about using a magna 3.5L V6 and adapting a sigma 5 spd to run behind it? they're nice and narrow...

The new Alloy Tech out of a new commodore there will be no probs with a gearbox & there might even be a six speed available for one. Give it about 12 months you will beable to get one for a reasonable price.

The v6 from mazda millenia is the lightest v6 at 225lbs. Designed for economy and good performance it makes 200hp in the klze normally aspirated version and in europe 450hp in race tune.
Problem is the box can only come from a suzuki Vitara as Suzuki volunteered as a co-designer. The vitara version is not as powerful stock at 160hp but The pikes peak Cultus has it making 900hp however with nothing original except the block.
The Mazda V6 can be bored to 3 litres and nothing comes close to it in weight, power and cheap whore price tag.

i've gotta say, that's an interesting engine.

did GM move that engine over from OPEL's EU spec family sedans or is it a whole new engine?

It may be built on the opel specs but they are manufactured at the HEC0 in Fishermans Bend.
They are 195 and 175 kw respectively.

I cant consider it in my race car due to the rules saying the engine needs to be of the same manufacturer as the car you are running.
Thats why the VQ35 would be my choice
as they make 206kw std with a 6 speed box. The engine is all alloy and would fit nicely in the coupe. Plus the torque would make the car sublime to drive.

What about a rear mounted R1 motorcycle engine??? check this link out...this company does it in a mini among other things.
