Round the world?
I would love to do it in a "built" older Dodge with V8 & auto. Their reputation for rugged strength & reliability is legendary. In fact, the word "dependability" was created in the teens to describe the Dodge car & its qualities. The ride quality of a larger car would be an important factor too.
Sorry Datsun fans, i love my 1000's dearly, & i have driven my sedan all over the eastern states of Australia, but round the world?? I'd like to think that i'm also realistic.

id do it in a 42 foot motorhome with all the mod cons and towing my 1200 coupe so i can blast around all the nice roads and racetracks that I come across in my travels...
in fact all the racetracks would be my waypoints I'd use to navigate.

I would drive Converted's ex-taxi Falcon tow car. It is rugged and reliable and has an airbag (well I always saw it had an airbag light when I drove it) and has lots of spare food down the back seat in case you got marooned somewhere. Also the transmission whine is so painful it would stop bad native people from approaching the car in any dangerous countries... like Tasmania.

If I could get A/C in my Datsun 1200 as well as some more comfortable seats I'd love to do it in the Datsun, but I know it probably would have problems in some areas like deep snow, etc. I've already traveled across the US a few times in my 1200's and it was always a blast whether by myself or with a family member. The only time it wasn't a blast was when I went through 1 transmission and 3 starters going from Seattle to Ohio before finally the clutch disk exploded....I had a vibration at high speeds (85mph+) that I couldn't figure out, but it did at least figure itself out I guess.

Another time for some reason one of my pistons cracked and my gas tank developed a small leak driving from Ohio to Texas...still made it and drove it around for another month before I found the piston was in two pieces, so I replaced the piston and kept going

Once I get everything situated with the new SR and getting it painted I don't know if I'll actually drive it cross country again or not. Deer, rocks, and bugs on a freshly restored car are the main reasons.

Teretonga If you ever make a trip to Tassie expect a vist from one of my fellow Wombats (Suicide speed humps). I thought Sydney was more dangerous than Tassie.

I would do the world trip in a Subaru Outback. Not to big, AWD, room for some friends, and a big enough boot area to put a few datsun bits in.
plus you should be able to get parts in most countries for it.(if it breaks down)

I would do it in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang just so if I got bored I could play with the mad horns. But if I was in a hurry it would be the Delorian.

i'd travel in a massive motor-home, with shi!loads of room, luxuries and crap like that... with a YZ250f strapped to the back of the bus, towing a car trailer with one of the very few XY Falcon 4x4 utes that came from the factory... if I could fit a datsun i would, but sh!t happens...

always wanted to drift a motor-home ;)
