I just got the new unique cars mag and attached to it was the Japanese and Impots Value Chart

Theses are the following Prices for some of our Beloved dattos (stock):

1000 sedan/Wagon= $500 Cd3 $1800 Cd2 $3500 Cd1

1000 coupe= $1000 Cd3 $2800 Cd2 $4500 Cd1

1200 coupe= $1000 Cd3 $3200 Cd2 $4800 Cd1

1200 sedan/wagon= $500 Cd3 $1700 Cd2 $3300 Cd1

1200 Utility= $1800 Cd3 $3800Cd2 $6000 Cd1

120y sedan/wagon= $400 Cd3 $1600 Cd2 $3000 Cd1

120y coupe= $700 Cd3 $2200 Cd2 $3900 Cd1

1600 sedan= $2200 Cd3 $5700 Cd2 $8000 Cd1

(all prices are in AU$)

Seems intresting because everything has increased quite alot and some of those CD1 1200 utes (orginal) in the paper are pretty close to the right price!...good to see, go the datto's.

For the record the most expensive "Datsun" at Condition 1 was the 2000 sports 67-70 worth $20 000

Cheers hope you lads get some good/required info from this

did they describe condition 1, 2, and 3?

I think a few of these prices are a bit high... either that or I sold a few of my cars a bit too cheap!

The book explains how they got thier figures and has a section on all most all JAP imported and Oz deleveried ones, with picture a small spiel about each one icluding all the datsun's i mentioned.

There is a Page explaining info on what each condtion must contain. with sub heading for:

1. bodywork
2. Interior
3. Eng Bay
4. Underbody
5. Wheels/Tyres

Quote on a few lines from each:

Condition One "should be free of dents, rust or obvious repairs. seats free of custs rips and clean correct material, dash etc. Eng bay clean with no staining due to water, oil or battery. no dents or damage to underbody complete exhaust etc. Orginal wheels nad hubcaps or after market wheels keeping with style tyres need to be correct size with at least 50%+ tread"

thats just a small amount of info i have pulled out of Condtion 1 section..

Another good qoute is " Value charts are a guide but cannot make allowences for a range of variables including distance travelled, modifcations, location or colour.

Its a good read should go out and buy will be handy book to keep for a few years

From the info on the Condition 1 it doesnt mean Show room stuff, as it takes into account the car is a classic and that it is so many years old. So i think if anybody was valuing stock Datsuns they would be the best as they know what thier talking about and looking at. They didnt just sit round and make the figures up, these are Average figures at current market (inspection so many of the models etc) prices on certain conditions and price averaged out etc...

I assume with decent modifactions and improvment on the cars condition you could add valvue on to those prices. worked motor, new paint, de-rust etc

When the factory starts makin' 'em, the book will start listing them.

The way i see it, if you find a condition-one KB10 at $3,500,... BUY IT. It'l be a bargain. Every country that Datsun sold cars in got the 1200 coupe, so they are common, but it looks as if only Japan & Australia got the 1000 coupe & rarity is an important element in the value of collectable cars.
I don't think that even the southern Japanese island of Okinawa got the KB10 as it was a left drive "country" at the time & the KB10 was right drive only. Okinawa joined with the rest of Japan & switched to right drive a little later I believe.
