As you've probably worked out it a 63 series, so guess you did.
Was the wrecker in Oz??

No it's a 63A - hydraullically operated from the factory. It's a good option for you in the 1000 race car unless you have a Dellow 3T in there. Either box is unbreakable behind an A series - easier to get good ratios with the Toy box tho.

yes you've hit the jackpot.don't buy any lottery tickets, cause you just used up a years worth of luck.now,to mount it,find a 210 (b310) automatic gearbox crossmember,& with a little filing of the bolt holes,it should bolt straight in.it'll also drop the transmission down away from the tunnel.i've got an l18 & a 63a (must mean l series) in a b310 coupe,& thats what i used.now you just have to find a
tailshaft with the right spline.see if you can find a a10 tailshaft.i think they were called a 510 or a 1600 in america.or maybe the wrecker
still has the tailshaft that fits this gearbox.

63A was common in the USA in B210s and larger cars (the 63A came with either L-series bellhousing or A-series pattern).

5-speed tech-section article

How did you determine that this is a 5-speed 63A and not a 4-speed 63A?

this is going into a 1980 210 (b310) 2 door coupe a15 with an automatic. so i guess i'm good with the crossmember. i have combed the forums quite a bit but i'm still not sure of some things..

1. will i still need a new driveshaft? if so, does it need shortened and modified?

2. can i use the automatic flywheel? or do i need to get a matching one?

3. i think i saw a post where someone said i need to get a special clutch kit for this transmission versus a normal 5 speed? can anyone elaborate?

4. looking through the tech guide i see a reference to a 63A 4 speed but no further information on it, only a 63A 5 speed. nevermind on this, just manually shifted it, definitely a 5 speed.

i am pretty much a car novice but i hope to graduate to amateur by doing this ambitious swap
