hi all!
i got my 5 speed at last. BUT it is missing a few vital bits. The box says 60 on the side of it.

1. Clutch fork & spring (can i take one from a 4 speed ?????)
2. Bearing spacer - im told i need a spacer, I have a bearing as i bought a new clutch kit, is this one OK?
3. Mounting bracket (i was planning on using 2 bits of metal with one hole at either end, to extent it those 2" so it sits in a stock gearbox mount. Does this method work ?
4. Tail shaft (do i need to get it shortened ??)

thanks for any help guys, If i can get these bits and get it installed I will drive to ACT on Sunday for the meet.

EDIT:
i got my hands on a spare 4 speed and the clutch fork bits fit straight onto the 5 speed. seems like its just the mounts to be fabricated then reverse switch and wallah!!

so today I tried to get the box in, all looked OK to go but I cant find any material to use as a spacer, from the U-mount (which is fabricated) to the bolt holes on the 1200 where the gbox mounts onto the body. There is about an inch or more there that needs to be filled up. So far nothing i can think of to use there. How come everyone who has done 5 speed swaps dont show their spacers in their pics, just the u-shaped bit ! ive had to borrow a friends mazda 323 in the mean time, but i need to put this gearbox in ASAP. any help would be appreciated.

also : my long lived 4 speed box died today after i stopped at a servo. 2nd 3rd and reverse makes an EVIL noise.

how i used to do it was a steel plate in a u shape from the gearbox mounts forward & i used the standard 1200 crossmember & rubber mount.all i did was put a spacer the same thickness as the plate between the crossmember & the mounts on the transmission tunnel.sounds complacated, but it worked.i then moved on to using a stanza rubber with a plate cut so it ran forward to the transmisson tunnel mounts.this had a spacer welded to the top of the plate.so,try using the standard crossmember first, this should get the gearbox into the car & running again.you could also make a pattern out of cardboard & get somebody to cut it out of steel plate, thats if you can't do it yourself.

sweet thats another good way of doing it b310gx, thanks

i now have the gearbox bolted to my engine (woohoo) but havnt made the bracket. ive had the U shape cut out, but it looks more like it might not need a U shape, more a straight up/down type of mount like this one.
Ive had the stock mount cut into 3 and bits (like R-fastmotorsport pointed out here)and will have the other bit welded on tomorrow. I will tonight measure depth from bolt holes on chassis to the top (or bottom if u look at it that way) of the stanza/sunny mount.

so far ive had to only bash the tunnel to make room for the clutch fork coming out of the box. also trimmed down the centre console screws from the tunnel side, to give it a bit more room.

what r u guys using as breathers ontop of your 5 speed boxs ? just a tiny air filter like a fuel filter ? dust and other crap can get into the gearbox if im off road.

so hoorah got the box into my coupe and just my luck (it seems) it makes noises in everygear, even in neutral at idle. SO took the gearbox out and took it to a specialist in Hornsby who told me the main shaft is buggered along with a few other bits. i am able to get my money back on the box BUT..
in the tech article on this site about 5 speeds, it states that the RS5W60A vanette gearbox can be used for parts for the FS5W60A gearbox. can anyone enlighten me on the possibilities of using vanette bits to save this reject 60A 5 speed ??

in the mean time ive purchased from pick'n'payless a 56A 120Y box until i can sort a 5 speed.
