turbo or NA?

Z24 crank with machined counterweights, 89mm bore, i think KA24DE pistons and i'm not sure which rods.

ported A87 head or V91 (200B gas) with double valve springs, 76degree cam and twin 45s on a twin SU manifold to keep with class regs. nice big valves too (L26 or L28 turbo) and datsport headers.

Better to use a z22 crank, especially if your on a budget, since it don't need no special machining.

Check out this.

At the end of the day it all comes down to how much you want to spend. So its hard for people to give you ideas with out know the $$'s you want to pay.

well i dont know actually how much i will spend..

lightened crank 150(standard crank)
rods lightened and balanced 150
pistons 400

All that is in US$$....thats all i know 4 sure im doing on the L20b.

But i would like about 220bhp wid plenty torque to spare.

Thanks.

Ps...lets us deal with building a good 2000cc then i can think about the 2.4.

nissan only "just"managed 200hp out of their L20Bs in their racing years - ford only managed 185hp out of their 2.0L escorts!

so with a stroker and their lesser ability to rev, you prob won't be able to get more than 200hp - but the power and torque under redline will be more than enough to compensate

Only 200hp so what sort of torque will the motor have???

2l pinto escorts make around 200-220bhp now wid a good set of torque.

yeah - 200hp NOW - not 30years ago when it mattered!

i have no idea on the torque available sorry - i have only just started to look into building an engine like this, let alone having driven with one or a few.

i dare say it would be impressive for an NA engine - but still be less than a good turbo/super setup (carby or injection).
