Hi all
My Datsun was resprayed about 2 years ago.
Since then it lived under a shade next to the house getting minimal sun due to the location next to the house.
This helps for sun but not for rain.
Although it is inland and rain is not so bad on the cars, mine has started to rust AGAIN.
The front left and right sides of the front window is where it is rusting again. The waterchannel to be precise. Not a problem, I am going to let this be fixed with a airbrush.
My problem is the following.
I discovered rust colouring under the chrome strips that is found on each door.
(They are clipped on horizontally where the window is located that is rolled up or down.)
I decided to remove the drivers side one quickly to find out what is causing this rust marks.
I found that it is the chrome strip's teeth that when you clip it onto the door it "grabs" the door to hold it in place.
When you press this chrome strip down into place it scratches the paint off the door baring it to rain and stuff.
The only thing I can think of is that I must not wash the car on these parts to get minimal water there.Maybe just use a damp cloth or sponge.
I am soon going to move to my own house where my cars are going to be under roof and not in rain anymore.
Must I just wax the rustmarks off that is visible and get minimal water in these spots?
I think respraying these parts will be money wasting and when the strips is clipped into place it will just scratch the paint off again.
Thanks
