i need to get 200-250hp out of an a14, my ideas are A14, s5 RX7 turbo, A15 injection manifold, A15 Ported head, forged pistons, stock conrods, o ringed, intercooler. is this enough? do A15 cranks fit into A14 blocks? is the S5 RX7 turbo too big? will the stock conrods hold up?
if someone has done this please email me all the info u can give me at MattoRX7@hotmail.com

If you have all those parts available I think you should be able to get your 200hp.

You get all of those good bits.. sell them on EBay for $4000 and buy a S13 Silvia frontcut and transplant the engine and gearbox.

Only at the pub after 9pm, or in your wildest dreams is this achievable on an A-series, outside of a factory-based budget.

Rotary turbo is a stupid idea, It'd take 2 A14 engines to power any rotary turbo.

hmmm..... I thought some of the guys were getting 200+ out the A-blocks with blowers and turbos? Maybe not 250 though....

What up guys? no real serious A-blocks left out there?

Oh, Why do you NEED min 200hp?

to get 200+hp, you'll need a fully worked A15 engine, with turbo installed.

if your country permits, it's better, safer and more economical to do SR20DET engine transplant.

but in malaysia, no engine mounting alteration is permited, so we can only do mod to A series engines.

so far i found someone did:
- enlarged intake and exhaust ports,
- enlarged valves
- fully balanced engine
- lightened high compression piston and con rod
- nismo racing cam
- nismo flywheel
- custom extractor (forgot 4-1 or 4-2-1)
- Webber carb
- electronic fuel pump
- 3 inch straight flow exhaust...
and he's getting only 180HP on the wheels

RX7 turbo is too big.

use a WRX or forester turbo.

use the A14 - it's ability to rev will make more power - not more capacity and less revs with a longer stroke - the turbo will give you al the torque you require.

remember, torque x rpm = horsepower. taking away the rpm by fitting a longer stroke engine doesn't make up for more torque.

if you mean crank HP then it might be possible to stretch to 250hp with a big wallet.

I was aiming for 150hp+ out of my supercharged motor once it's built, at the crank of course. it wasn't going to be too wild either, blow thru carb - intercooled, solid state conversion, cam etc & toyota SC14 with about 14psi through it (roughly 1:1)

If an ET/EXA E15ET can get 100kw at the wheels on about 15psi, I figure a boosted A14 can do 100HP at the wheels. Surely cross flow & twin cam don't make that much diff, they are just an A15 turned sideways other than that.

IIRC I calculated that 170hp would give the car the power to weight to run a 12 like my old VR4 did, which is my straight line goal

So.... how much money does it take to get 200 hp at the flywheel on an A14 then?

Is the only thing still original the block?
Do you need to replace:
Crank, pistons, rods, cam, lifters and springs, and polish/port the head, plus aftermarket manifolds (intake and extractor) plus a properly jetted webber and turbo. ?

Can any of the stock parts handle serious hp and be reliable?

Will a solid A14-turbo/blower setup with 200hp at the flywheel still be runable on a daily basis as a commuter car, or is that just too much to ask?
