Hi guys, im in a bit of trouble, on the way to work this avo, yes i am at work now, my throttle cable snapped at the ball, i have dodgied it up by bending the part that the ball sits in over the cable so i could at least be on time. I have spare carbs at home so i didnt mind bending it but...
does anyone in adelaide have a cable i can buy or know where i can get one first thing tomorow morning? obviously i will phone around anyway but any good starting point is helpful. Its a 71 1200 sedan.
Can you use a 120y or any other cars?
Thanks in advance!
Sean

A bike shop (motorized or pedal) or try a brake specialist. They made one up for me
Your cable shouldn't snap, make sure the stop under the accelerator pedal is adjusted correctly

Thanks, any other ideas, otherwise i reckon dattodevils idea is a goer!

You know what an electrical "terminal block" looks like??

It's for joining up sets of 2 wires.

Cut off one of the "blocks", and use it the screw down onto the speedo cable, to replace the ball. It'll work forever. You might need to adjust some slack at the carby, to allow you enough cable to do this.

Silver soldering another steel or brass ball onto the end would work too.

Cheers.

ps. This also happened to me once. I had to drive home with a hand throttle, using one of my battery jumper leads, clamped onto the cable.. It happened at a nightclub at about midnight. The Police were doing car spot checks in on one-way (one lane) road. So, here I was in my loud CA18DE 1200, cruising by them, hoping they didn't pull me over..it would have looked pretty silly. Lucky for me they didn't stop me.

Trailer shops are another option too. My brother had a Fiat throttle cable made by a local trailer shop and it works fine.
