Hello folks.
Newbie here. I was just going through some web research i was doing regarding turbocharging a carburettor. I was wondering if "phunkdoktaspok" still posts here. Anyone with experience mind helping me out. Its a home job and i was confuced about some tech issues.

I had a box-carby, blow through arrangment in mind for a G13 (Suzuki) and i had the following questions.

1.What kind of rising rate FPR should i be looking for. I saw a couple on the internet and the line pressure recommended for aftermarket turbo suited FPR is 35 to 75 psi?Is this what i should be looking for.

2. Proper serial arrangment would be
Fuel Pump
FPR
Carby

Do i need to make the OE FPR redundant or use the rising rate FPR in conjunction with the OE FPR.

I have a carby with mechanical secondaries, i was wondering what the disadvantages are of using a Carby with vaccum secondaried in a box-carby BT setup? Given my research, i believe its the former as the secondaried are not pressure dependant.

BOV plumbing. Is the BOV plumbed at the box or the IC piping and where should i get the vaccum feed off of. The intake runner or the brake servo?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome.
He doesnt post here any more.
I also cant see that he would know how to turbocharge a carbie.
Why would you want to turbo a carbie?

I assume you want to turbocharge a carbed motor, not just the carb

Blow thru or suck thru? What engine? What compression? What other mods?

The original post says its a blow through for a Suzuki G13

Crap! I'm retarded.

OK, original Q.

The 35-75psi regs you're seeing are for fuel injection. You can get a Malpassi Turbo Carb regulator that works with an EFI fuel pump & return line to supply more than enough fuel in a carb'd situation. Here's a diagram -->Click this

You need a return line is all, they can work with a carb pump IF it can hold enough pressure to cover boost AND the original static pressure

So proper arrangement is fuel pump, reg, carby - with a return line taking fuel back to the tank AND the boost reference plumbed into the carb box or turbo outlet or something pressureised without fuel.

Yes, the OE reg is redundant

Mechanical secondaries are gunna be the go with being force fed

BOV can be mounted anywhere on the pressurised side before the throttle butterflies - the box or the piping in other words. Theres a heap of conflicting theories about pre or post cooler BOV mounting, I prefer nearer the throttle buit that's me.

For a boost source, from a runner will do fine, remember the regulator needs a boost source BEFORE the throttle whereas the BOV needs one AFTER so they can't share. Your brake booster will need a 1 way valve in it BTW or you may find yourself without brakes!

Does this help?

Well you answer all the questions then.
They said they had been doing resarch. Well if they came up with my name, they should have found all that info already in my posts even from 3 years ago. So what research was done?
Research would of told already that you dont turbo a carbie. You turbo an engine. This site is Datsun related not Suzuki, so I have no wish to reply. I know about blowthrough A series hitachi carbies not suzuki.
Research? What FPR is on a carbie fed suzuki from factory. Research would have resulted in putting 2 and 2 together.
Thats all I have to say. I dont waste datsun1200 space on repeating things.
Feel free to answer questions yourself if you wish to comment on suzukis in a datsun1200 forum.

Thats rather unpleasant of you phunkdoktaspoc. I must have missed your "whinging quotient" before addressing you for any help and i actually thought you could do better than telling me to turbo charge and engine and not a carbie. Next time i'll make it a point a attach an engine pefore "hand pumping" all that charge. Just strengthened my inherent mistrust of strangers with weird names.I have no intention of taking up Datsun Space for Suzuki related anything. Just wanted to get my facts straight on turbocharging a carburetted engine as i initially mentioned that i was a NEWBIE, NOOB or whatever it is that tickles your clit. You been hanging around netspace too long phunk ol' chum, nevertheless, i do apologize i may have offended you in any manner.

My sincerest gratitude to Ash & Side draught!.

I'll drop by when i get a Datsun.

Au revoir.

Good Riddance.
Shows my instinct was correct.
Newbie, Oldie, or even A Dilatory chump who has a " thought to one's self " clever name. I still dont give a toss.
Like I said. Good Riddance.
