i have a set of twin su style hitachi flat top carbs
what i was wondering are they any better than standard twin throte on an a14
because i dont whant to fit them if they are more trouble than they are worth
i know round tops are the better choice but i dont have any at this stage

Yes they should be no trouble, and considerably better than the standard carb.

Why are round tops better than flat tops?

To my understanding the flat tops have " anti pollution" circuits incorporated, where as the round tops are the pre pollution type....

Mate there is nothing wrong with them just the polution stuff is ugly. They will be alot better than the stock carby. I mean anything is. It has the best driveability and fuel economy but its performance is woeful.
