Hi all ,
I'm new to the forum and am from the US .
I'm in need of a 1200 steering box preferably with column . Also will the B210 steering box work ? What I really need is the bearings and the bearing race on the bottom end of the steering shaft . This is for a roadracing car that I haven't been able to use yet this season because of this very need . The track that we call our home track can be seen at www.waterfordhills.com . Thanks for any help .

Good question. The assembly is different (B210's use a flexible coupling between box and steering column, B110s have the steering column attached to the box). It is possible the gears and other parts inside are the same, not sure if anyone here knows?

So the b210 steering box sounds much the same as a PL510 box which is about 2" to long .
The O/A vertical length of the b110 box mounted in the car is about 8". I had thought about just swapping out the whole assembly for a 510 box since I have two of those cars at home but the problem is when you compensate for the extra length of the 510 box and mount it higher in the b110 chassis it hits on the exhaust header . Yikes , this was supposed to be a simple fix . Any one have a better idea ?

I would also like to know, i just replaced the upper bush in the steering column, bastard of a thing that was, but i would like to rebuild the box itself. Is there people out there who specialize in rebuilding steering boxes, what about changing the ratio?

The 1200 gearbox already has the best ratio in the Datsun lineup. I hear some racers shorten the the steering arms to get a quicker response.

careful...please only shorten the pitman arm.

Shortening anything else will seriously affect bumpsteer.

If its just the bearing and lower race check out a local bearings part house they may be able to match up with what you need.

I 've tried Detroit Ball Bearing and they say they can't cross reference it with anything .
Sounds kind of hokey to me but I'm no bearing expert . Maybe there is a website that I can look up . Thanks for the help so far guys . Anyone else have any ideas ?

Todd .

regarding shortening the pitman arm, is there any other pitman arm you can use? Ive heard a while back that corolla ke30 or something arms can be used, as they are shorter.
