My 1200 is getting a rebuild, and the turbo is stuffed - will cost as much to rebuild as to purchase a new turbo! Does anyone know exactly what is involved to fit a gt28rs to a ca18det? All i have read is a bit vague - 1 the manifold flange is the same but doesn't quite line up so one bolt must be slotted. 2. oil lines must be modified (heated and bent into shape) 3. grind a bit out of the exhaust manifold (to accommodate larger compressor housing) OR use a spacer and longer studs.
I was going to use GT25 but was a bit complicated. thanks, justin ps my low compression (120psi) was due to a cracked piston ring and stuffed valves. I have forged items now.

1 manifold bolts up perfectly, just the (very most top) bolt hold in the dump pipe just needs to be elongated slightly, or slotted.
2. Oil lines don't need modding you just need to rotate the housings, exhaust it easy as it's just undo bolts twist and retighten, compressor is a little harder as you have to undo bolts plus then get some huge #### off circlip pliers to remove a mother of a circlip, then rotate that until your oil and water lines match the stock position.
3. I grinded a little out of the compressor output pipe so it wasn't too close to the manifold.
Hope I've helped
Cheers Damo

The oil drain flange and pipe is different to the T25.
The 0.7 TO4E front housing will not fit under a stock manifold without a spacer. Then it might hit the engine mount, if you aren't careful.

I have a brand new stainless steel manifold that will mount up. It has never been used but has a TB2812 mounted on it (same dimensions as the 28rs) so i know it will suit your application. You can have it for $250 delivered. PM me and i'll send you some pics.

Thanks guys,
I will have a go at it or more likely get the mechanic to help! Matt - i will try to do it without your manifold at first, but if that fails i may call on you. Thanks Chris, what kind of turbo do you have on your ca18 now? And thanks Damo, it sounds like you have first hand experience, just what i needed!!!
I'll probably have more questions soon... justin

I'm running the 440hp GT28. 0.7 compressor, 0.86 turbine. Probably a bit laggy, but I don't care, looks good, and goes well even at 2-3psi boost. I expect it will go very well when I wind up the boost to 18-20psi after running in the engine.
I made my own manifold. After getting the head flange from Liverpool exhaust.

yeah the HKS GT28RS is exactly the same size as an S15's T28 turbo only difference is the HKS turbo has a HKS tag attached to the compressor housing.
To save time and money I'd go with a tuned length manifold, the ones that are single pipes as they have the best flow!!
