If you have got money to burn & want bolt ons, have a look at Maddat and datsports web sites. also have a look at dattodude's site if you want to know how to put it together. There are a lot of converted cars in QLD (compared to the rest of the Aus), a nice looking SR20DET conversion a few months back for $10K...... if you have got a bit of patience one might come up for sale.

Hi Tommy-G
There is a heap of information on this site about the venerable CA conversion. Just put aside a hour or two and do a thorough search.

I am more than happy to answer any questions you have via email. I would also recommend chatting to Kev Rowley who lives here in Brisbane and was responsible for my conversion. Very cluey guy and an absolute champion to boot. If you contact me via PM I'll give you his number. Both he and Andrew (CA18DETman) manufacture crossmembers and other parts for very reasonable dollars.

I will give you this advice - do up a very thorough budget with absolutely everything costed out and then add another 50% (atleast) to the total. Things always go wrong, break at the wrong time etc. At the end of the day you are basically completely re-engineering a vehicle. It is a big job so be sure you want to do it before starting. There's nothing worse than sinking a heap of time and money into a project and then losing motivation.
Regards Matty

buddy do a search to find out costs etc.

Alot of the costs in teh conversion is labour so the more you can do the cheaper it will be.

Cheeers

Damo

PS when you work out a price add a grand to that that way you include all the small things like hose clamps and stuff,

That's damn good advice matty- exactly what I have just done.......... and I lost motivation there and then. If you can do a lot of the fabrication work yourself and have access to people who have done the conversion before, then you are in a pretty good position. If you're lazy (like me) and want to buy bolt in components and get the tricky stuff (like wiring) done by professionals then you have to have a big wallet.
