With a generous helping of, um help from tensandtwenties, the hydraulics have been bled on the Seven. When it was decided that it "had brakes" we pushed it out for a test drive. I took it around the bulding twice just so I could say I have driven it. The brakes are still spongy and I hope it is just some air still trapped in there. It is probably master cylinders that are too small, but I'm hoping for air. The clutch feels fine and the shifter works great. The throttle is a bit of a "hair trigger" with no weight to speak of holding the engine back! I'm getting excited about this project again.

Oh, for those with attention spans like mine (short, that is), the Datsun Seven is the Birkin S3 Lotus Seven replica I have been building for the last year. I have ditched the turbo A-12 in favor of the simpicity of an A-15 with a single side draft. Don't worry, I have a 1200 that the turbo A-12 is going into.

Well done, it's good to see someone else has an A series seven. I thought I was the only one.

I've been talking about the same thing for a while now. The only thing stopping me is the glass body and the amount of work to do it.

Well, if we're going to "bunny" this thread, I guess I'll chime in as well. I have for some time now wanted to take the front wheel drive engine and transmission from a Maxima and build a mid engine car. Now that I (almost) have one kit under my belt I might think on it some more. I just need to find a wrecked five-speed Maxima.

How about a pic of the seven? I always thought a FWD SR20 would be good as well.

Why not two?

Just tube frame the 1200 and put a FWD SR in the front and one in the back? Twice the HP and AWD?

Only one thing I'd change... Those fuel filters have rubbed me wrong ever since a friend's 1962 409 Impala burned practically to the ground as a result of one. Came to find out, they're a pretty common problem, and yours is right over the exhaust. Just a thought....

Looks unbelieveable otherwise!

Sr20 are heavier than a ca18 by a hefty amount. The A is halve the weight.
SR20 are overrated.
