I'm doing the bodywork on my 1200 coupe now and am fixing to get ready to pull the interior panels off so I can remove the DATSUN badges off the rear quater panels . Is this hard to do without breaking em?

The Rear coupe ones are good, because you have access to the inner panel.

The pins are normally covered in body sealer to stop them moving or rusting.

So look around the back of the badge, and remove the sealer, and then give the pins a good spraying of WD40 (penetrating lubricant), let it stand for an hour. You could clean up the back of the pins with a wire brush or kitchen scourer.

Carefully lever the badge using a putty knife (not a small screwdriver) (near the pins only) if you can reach around and push on the pins (while levering) from the inner panel.. the badge ought to jiggle out.

But not knowing the condition of the pins, removing these badges has some risks. You can still buy them from Ebay if you break them.

The trunk emblems on eBay are for the 2dr sedan. I wonder if it will fit the same holes on the Coupe? Probably not.

I'd bet they are the same part numbers.

I'll confirm in my books tonight.
