Cheap 5 speed hey? I think you will find that the 5th gear resides in the extension housing and will cause problems. I would like to be told differently though!

I don't know for sure, but I will be watching this thread. . .

Do you have a 5 speed vanette box? A datsun wrecker here in WA told me they only came out in 4 speeds. Spewing cos I have a busted 5 speed I'm trying to get spares for.

I'm interested too cause the vanette boxes are pretty cheap here, and I don't have a 60a four speed to muck around with, but I've got the vanette box.

A column shift 120Y, interesting. . .something different. . .

If you have a blown 5 speed, in theory would should be able to swap extension housings with a vanette unit and be on your way with a boring old floor shift.

Hmmm, I have a vanette with a high roof, makes a great rolling cupbord for all my bits. I haven't looked at the gearbox and there is no gear selector as it was a parts van. where abouts on the gearbox is the type number? I don't wanna hang around it for too long cos I just found the first snakeskin of the season
