I'm thinking about building a new race car and would like to put an L where an A was and was woundering what fits what. I think a 180B ( and maybe a 200 ) X member fits a 120Y And I think a stanza might fit a sunny but will a 1600 fit a 1200

None of the above will fit in a 1200.

A crossmember is more than something to perch your engine on.

The space between the bottom arm pivots on the crossmember must match the length of the draglink on the steering, otherwise you'll end up with freaky steering.

Looking at the L-Series transplant technical article is a good start, but drilling out the spot welds, and transplanting the mount towers from the 180B to a 1200 crossmember is a better starting point.
