I am doing up a ca18 turbo motor and i am unable to remove the timing belt gear from the crank,i remember reading that some one had the same problem but i cannot remember how they got it off.

Using a 2 or 3 arm bearing puller makes the job easy as. You just undo the bolt that holds it in but leave it in, and press the centre piston of the puller onto that surface.

If you don't have a puller, spray WD40 all around the mating surfaces, and use two large flatblade screwdrivers and work either side of the pulley until it comes off. DONT USE A HAMMER...use some patience.

Thanks dattodude,have tried wd40 and levers(no go).
Cant get pullers around the back of the gear as the oil pump has a alloy shroud which encircles the gear. Its on real tight, may have to drill and tap a couple of holes in front of gear to attatch puller???????,GREG
