Hey all,

I come to you today with a scaaaary mystery.

Was about to begin rebuilding the dizzy on my A14 last night - replacing all the replaceable bits inside, condensor, points, rotor, cap. I pulled the dizzy out of the motor then went to remove the vaccum advance module (as per the workshop manual) when it dawned on me it looks different to the one in the workshop manual

1200's came with 4 types of distributor according to my workshop manual.
3 different Hitachi styles
1 Mitsubishi style
Yet the manual only shows pics of one Hiitachi style.
I am sure it could be the same case with your A14. Your workshop manual should list the different styles that were fitted.
There's always the chance someone fitted another one.

OK - I can accept that there were different types of dizzys fitted, and I can also accept that Nissan Australia wouldn't have a clue.

What gets me the most is I buy all the spare parts for the A14 distributor from Bosch....and the dizzy cap doesn't fit, so which other one I wonder should I buy?

Here is the cap from the A14 dizzy, and the replacement one I bought - different size and completely different offside of the four plugs around the centre.

So I'm hoping someone will recognise it, or recognise the part number - so I can go buy some more spare parts. Also we can solve an interesting mystery too...that will be fun, wont it?

The larger size cap is used in the USA. Check out the pics of the USA distributor for the aluminum casting comparo; part numbers for the big cap are listed too: B310 Distributor.

It does look fairly similar to the US one...wonder how it got here.

I also got the part numbers from the article.

Cap (same as points ignition, 1974 up): Standard Motor Products JH-63X/JH-63T/JH-63

I'm waiting on a reply from the company to see if they distrbute to Australia. I've just used Bosch for ignition components till now. (Maybe I'll see if I can check for a comprable Bosch part number whilst I'm at it.)

After a bit more investigation of the Bosch part application guides, it seems the B310 & the N10 pulsar that both run the A14 have different rotors, dizzy caps and condensors.

Another theory is I have an N10 pulsar distributor - I'll order an N10 dizzy cap today...might take a few days to arrive.

I thought this little table might be handy for others too.

Hey all

I think I might have solved the mystery. I just picked up a 'GH604' which is the dizzy cap for a N10 Pulsar A14 and it looks the goods.

Will have to take some happy snaps this evening just to confirm it all.

I was actually an error in the Bosch catalouge I belive that led to the problem.

Funny thing is though Nissan will still not recognise the part number as a valid dizzy number.

As for the difference between the workshop manual and the dizzy internals - I'll just live with it. I think it is only the vacuum advance system which is different to the manual - I'll pick up an N10 Pulsar workshop manual maybe.

Scary. It seems like Bosch AU have different part numbers from Bosch USA.

This may be cap 03107, which fits Subaru, Nissan etc in USA.PartsAmerica - click "See all vehicles this product fits".

22100-H8900 is in my Japan Domestic Market B310 parts catalog:
22100-H8900 DISTRIBUTOR ASSY: A14s Sedan, Coupe AT through Oct 1980 Hitachi
