hey guys. just wondering if anyone could help with the gearbox problem i have. Im doing a ca18det conversion into a 1200 ute, and was told that the skyline stubby gearbox was the way to go, with the s13 bellhousing. The skyline box is proving hard to source and expensive, so i was wondering if there are any other choices?? if not does any one know where to get a skyline stubby gearbox from. preferebly somewhere in sydney..
thanks guys

hey, i did the same setup u are talking about, im in SA and it was hard to find, i eventually got it from Grand Auto Wreckers which i s a nissan/datsun wreckers, i paid about 400 for it, and for it to fit the bellhousing of the s13 it has to be custom setup, i took it to mad dat and cost me about $150, i only just picked it up on saturday. im sure there are other combinations to use but this was recommened to me from craig at mad dat, and thought i should listen to the guy that has done it many atire. they have a website i think just search for grand auto wreckers and see if u can do something bout freight, if u want that is, and craig is just round the corner from them, hope this helps u could get the wreckers to give the box and housing to craig and then get him to dispatch for you, they are mates so they could figure out the payment method i guess, hope this helps

wow the stumpy box must be getting hard to find!

i paid $170 for mine about 2 years ago... and swapped the bellhousing with a ca20 gearbox that i picked up for $50..

straight swap too.... bearings were the same size!

yes i was lucky enough to do so... but there is obvioulsly a variation of either the stumpy box or the ca20 bellhousing or both..

some club members have had to replace a bearing or two to mate the two together..

it has been discussed a lot so just do a search and all will be revealed..

good luck
