well, anyone and everyone who might be interested in doing a QLD event later in the year, actually...

After Bathurst there was some talk about trying to get up to QLD for an event this year, and I think the Ironman Weekend sounded popular. So here's the dates for that and a couple of other options

Ironman weekend:

Fri Sept 22 - Sun Sept24
The Ironman consists of 4 separate events. You can enter just one or two and go for class/outright trophies, or do the whole lot and compete for the Ironman trophy, which is won with regular monotony by some guy in a porsche 996 turbo. You don't have to use the same car for the nav-run.
1. Friday night they have a navrun
2. Saturday Morning is a Sprint at QLD Raceway
3. Saturday Afternoon motorkhana at QR pits
4. Sunday (all day) Mt Cotton Hillclimb

The other 2 day event is the QLD Hillclimb Championship June 3-4. Practice day Saturday and competition Sunday. The pit paddock is locked overnight so you can leave the cars there. I think they hire a security gaurd for the night too. I'm not sure if cars have to be log booked for this event these days - been a few years since I did the state champs.

There are also some good 2 day supersprint events at Morgan Park (8 over the course of the year), which is a good tight, twisty track with alot of elevation changes, but they are hard to get into. I know the guy who runs the series, so if there's genuine interest in that I could call him and see if we can get a handful of spots in one of those rounds. I don't think it will be a problem. I don't have dates for their events yet.

what do you guys think? Or if you've got other suggestions for an event up here or down in NSW, i'm open to ideas.

Hey Harry,

I am kind of planning on coming up to QLD to do the state round in October at QR (24-26 Oct).

The Ironman event you mentioned spounds like fun too, but our last state round falls on the same weekend.

Thanks for the info though...hopefully I can get up there in October (maybe drag Craig with me) and do the state round.

Mark.

Hi Harry
Thanks for posting the dates up.

My brother and I are planning on doing the ironman series as we've heard it is alot of fun. I'm hoping to do a couple of events at Mt Cotton, a couple at QR and a couple at Morgan Park over the year.

Could you please post up dates and prices for the Morgan Park events when they come to hand?

Thanks Matty

Hey Harry, mmmm It would be great to get to QLD with Johns Taylors 5th Evo 1200 racer...I will see how things go this year in the NSW IPRA series. Id like to give the championship a real rattle this year and this will draw alot of resources away from anything else...but only time will tell.

Now this is the sort of stuff I'd like to get into when my coupe is racing instead of rusting

Hey there Harry,
thanks for the info - I'm keen for a look in June. Maybe part of Ironman too but we'll see how the year shapes up. Almost ready to fire up the L20 so I should have plenty of time to work any bugs out before June.
Keep us posted
Cheers mate

Mark, make sure you let us know if you do come up for a state round. I'll definitely come out for a chat or crew if you need an extra hand. And good Luck to you and Craig in the NSW IPRA championships.

R-fast, good to hear the L20 is almost ready. I think you're going to have alot of fun with the extra grunt. Hope you and Benny can make it up here - Mt Cotton is a pretty exciting piece of road.

I really want to see Andrew's coupe here too - that thing will blow people's minds! not to mention records!
