I agree, it is original colour, and suits the vintage of the vehicle.

SOLD, as of this afternoon, it went to Central Cost. Good news is it will remain a daily driver and all original.

Thanks for looking...

That is sweet. Can I ask how much it went for?

And what engine is in these? I notice they are 1300, but what type?
Where's the walking historic car encyclopaedia (dodgeman), I'm sure he can answer that

Edit: never mind, a search tells me they are a J-series.

btw....is it just me or do these things resemble an old Alfa Romeo?

From the blurb in the auction
Quote:
You are bidding on a 1964 Datsun Bluebird model P410. This classic car has been designed by the famous Pininfarina studio, in Milan, Italy, hence the strong resemblance to early FIATS and ALFAS, especially from front.

Note the strong visual resemblance of this engine to the Austin A40 engine, from which it was derived.
Those clever Datsun engineers only made three basic changes to the engine.
1. They stopped it leaking oil.
2. They overcame all the reliability problems.[abandoning the Lucas electrics was a big step foward here too]
3. They made it GO quite well in it's day.

These were things that the Brits could never get quite get right. VIVA clever Datsun engineers!

It went for $3K. Original fitment engine for 410's is E-1 engine, which is a 3-bearing 1200cc OHV. 411 model was fitted with the J13 engine, which is very similar to the e-1, but being 1300 cc, and 5 bearing crank. Bore is the same, they use same heads, same dizzy, they even look the same. Ditto for what dodgeman said re build quality compared to pommy stuff.

Cheers,

Sel
