Are there any easily adapted alternators from other cars? I just need a replacement for my 60a sunny alternator and wanted to know if there are any larger ones that are easy to install.

Sure, can do. Do you just want to add weight, or do you have a need for 100+ amp output?

Here's an outline for using an old-style Chrysler alternator on a A14.

The newer 100 amp units are smaller.

just curious, I suppose the only power draw is the headamps and the amp for the stereo and the big electric fan. Really a 60A sunny alternator is fine. Just thinking a bigger american alternator might be cheaper, but space is tight up there where the alternator is.

Watts / Volts = Amps, ya? i'll see how many i need. how many are used for charging the battery typically?

I should have 13+ amps left for battery charging on a 60A alternator. But I want to add maybe another 150watts of stuff more. which could leave as little as .5 amps to charge the battery if everything was at 100% but that would probably never happen.

I added more swap info to the Wiring article in Tech Section.

if i had a spare lower mount to hack on i might try it. Or if i were to try the oldskool lower mount on the drivers side. Maybe. It's not going to be a bolt in thing. so it'll have to wait.
