my 75 b210/120y broke down last week and i wasent sure what it was it wasent getting spark to the HT leads and my 8volt coil looked pretty old and cooked as they do in a 30 year old car so i purchased a 12v coil and realised i wasent getting the power needed from the condencer thing that hookes to the coil so i hooked it to the battery and goes fine for now, will a 12v universal condencer be right to put in cause a mate said it wouldent but i cant see why not

???

If you are using the original B210 distributor with points, you will burn out the points soon. The point set can only handle a reduced load, which is why they don't use a full 12V on the coil. The condensor (round capacitor) is also used to keep the points from arc welding themselves together. But even with a condensor, a full 12V on the coil will soon overwork the points.

If you are asking about the white ceramic resistor (instead of the condensor), you should hook it back up unless you have an electronic distributor. An electronic distributor uses a condensor to cut down on electrical interference. It may also help protect the electronics.
