really really easy....

Look at the wiring diagram..

Even easier than a 1200.

Wiring Diagram

B - Fusable Link 12V Charge Current
S - Sense 12V wired to same fusible link as B.
L - Light on dash
E - Earth wire.

That's it.

You can throw away the regulator on the passenger side strut tower, and remove wires from loom.

Thanks chris,

also can you tell me how i should wire the relay for my fuel pump. i know it needs a sender from the computer which is cool, and power and earth and.....what else??

oh and also with the alt. what do i hook the +ve wires up to ie. ingnition power or constant power? and what size fuse do i use if any?

The alternator wires should be tied to +12v (always on) via a fusible link.

BUT it can be wired to a ignition powered relay to control connection to +12V. This is a good trick on SR20 engines, as they have a problem with draining batteries when not driven for a couple of weeks. The downside is the relay can silently die, leaving you with a flat battery on a long drive.

Fuse should be FUSIBLE LINK 25amp 30amp.

For fuel pump. The triggers out of the ECU are mostly earth triggered.

trigger side:
So ignition power to one side of the relay (can jumper off the ECCS relay 12v) and the earth side to the ECU fuel pump pin.

power side:
FAT IGN power or FUSED FAT 12V wire from battery. Other side of relay to the fuel pump + terminal.

Also recommend running a FAT (3mm wire) earth back to where the ECU earths on the chassis or back to engine or battery.

EFI Fuel pumps draw 5amp-15amp.

get my drift? use a fuse on the fuel pump power .

When wiring up the O2 sensor, reroute the 12V supply to the 02 sensor heater through a separate inline fuse. My o2 sensor went short circuit once, and blew another fuse down the line, that was impossible to trace.
I fixed it on the side of the road by blowing the fuse twice, and cutting the heater 12V wires to keep it going. I ran without an 02 heater for the next 3 years.

I spent a lot of hours debugging damn strange problems with my CA18 back when we did the transplant back in 1994

is it possible to run the alternator "S" to the "white/blue" ign power insead of splicing into "B" before the fuse??
is there any benefit from this??

The "S" terminal needs to have a good +ve feed from either the battery +ve terminal or the B+ on the alternator. The "S" satnds for battery sensing, if you have a poor +ve feed to this terminal the alternator could overcharge, which is not good for electronics.

Hi, I'm Ferg and new to the site. I've been looking for info on my alt and fusible link on a 77 b210.

Should I replace the link with fusible link wire (what gauge wire?) or an inline 30amp fuse?

I fried the link after replacing the alt when I connected the r/w wire and a black wire to the alt post. I then disconnected the black wire and all is good except I don't think I'm getting a good charge on my battery! I's this normal or am I overlooking something? The alt is good!
