i just ordered in a new head gasket kit for my a12 , and there all pretty much the same except for the exhaust manifold gaskets. My manifold has oval shaped gasket compared to the new gasket which is circular and doest fit properly. has this happened to anyone else??

(my ute is 1200 1980 if that helps)

You are talking about intake ports? Chances are you have an A14 head, which is oval port, but you should be able to trim the gasket to fit your intake ports. If you feel it to be too thin use an A14 mani gasket. probably available by itself...

The round inlet port head is correct for an A12, while the heads with oval ports were used on A14/15's as well as the high performance A12GX.

If your gasket has round inlet ports, then it would be correct for the car. If your head has oval inlet ports, then it, or even the whole engine, has been changed.
Check the engine number for the engine model. It will likely have either A12, A14, or A15 as a prefix.
