They didnt make a 120Y with a 5 speed box, but yes any box that will bolt up to the A12 in a 120Y will bolt up to the A15 in your ute. Where are you located? knowing this will make it easier to find a gearbox in a state/country close to you.

The JDM B210 Sunny GX was avilable with the 56 series five speed. We would have known this car as a 120Y GX if it had been sold here, but it wasn't. If you have managed to damage the 60 series four speed, then I would strongly recomend against using the lighter 56 series gearbox.
The stronger 60 series five speeds show up from time to time & one was sold here only a few days ago. These five speeds are usually fairly expensive, so it would be better to get the 60 series if you want it to last. Be patient, save your dollars, & be ready to buy as soon as one shows up.

well first of there is 3 a series 5 speeds that are easy swaps for the 1200, theres the 56, 60, and 63 series 5 speeds, the a56 series gearbox is to weak for the a15, so best try and get the 60 or 63 series trans, but these are rare and expencive, u can get the t50 5 speed of a rwd celica or corolla with the 2tc or 3tc engine, there alot more common but reqire more work/modding as they have a different bellhousing bolt pattern but are lighter and stronger, so look out for the 60, 63 series or the t50, and your a step closer to a quality upgrade, if u know your mehanics and can do most of it yourself look out for the t50.

60 series gearboxes seem to be most commonly found in B310 models in various overseas markets. We knew this model as the Sunny in Australia, but we only ever really saw the four speed.
If you do find a 60 series five speed, you might find it has a hydraulic clutch actuation. Right drive vehicles used cable operared clutches, while left drive cars had hudraulic operation.
While the Dellow conversion to allow use of the Toyota gearbox is not particularly cheap, it is still a very good choice & you will find this box is very hard to break with an A series Datsun engine.

Your wish has been answered. It's not a ute gearbox as he claims, but it was removed from a ute, so it should fit yours. It's a 60 series, so it should hold up behind an A14/15 unless you do something silly. The price? Tell him he's dreaming.

Quote: e bay dude is definately dreaming yeh hence why he hasnt had any bids!! even im not willing to pay that much for a 60series. i can get a dellow kit for a few hundred more and the dellow kit is stronger, lighter and better ratios! plus if you break a 60 series you have to find parts from another 1 to get it fixed!!! with the dellow kit its much easier to find parts for the 2T/3T gearbox... tell him he's dreamin'
