Hi
this is for my 320 ute, hopefully someone can help me on this...

Replaced my wheel cylinders and brake shoes now everything is installed correctly double checked and compared from photos and diagram.
One problem handbrake doesnt work, disconnected the cable from the cross connector under the car so I can test each drum. When you pull the cable the toggle lever doesnt push the extension link that much to be able to push the shoe to the drum, or the shoe is too far away from the link?
I've seated the shoes correctly tried the pulling the handbrake few times before.
Adjusted the adjuster as well and I was on the stage that the drums are dragging or very tight already but the handbrake has no effect

I've attached a diagram for reference

The lever #23 is pivoted on a pin on brake shoe #2, yeah? So is the link #22 moving some distance before contacting the shoe? Wierd that it doesn't work as it's such a simple system Have you checked out the action of the components with the drum off?

No. 23 is connected to the brake shoe behind it (between the brake shoe and the backing plate)
I tried it with the drum off and it operates but it seems that the link has too much space before it hits the other shoe hence not making it move.
I installed everything correctly and I dont know why its got this space between the link and the shoe

If they are not old genuine Nissan brake shoes, i guess it's possible the slots for the link are too deep maybe? If so you could weld a bit of the slot up to reduce it. How far out is the adjuster?

I adjusted it again 10 mins ago and its seems that its pushing the shoe but not enough for the weight of the ute to stay when handbrake is on.
I tried rolling the drums when the ute was off the ground with handbrake on and its hard to roll as soon as I slap the wheels on the ute rolls back as if the handbrake is not even working..

try this, maybe i'm wrong. Put your foot on the break, make sure the pedal is down good, now crank the e brake handle a bunch of times, do this with the button held in so it won't wear the thing out. This is how the self adjuster should work. you might have to do it 50 times to get it to hold tight.

now if the Au models work different than that may not work. I use only non factory parts, and they fit pretty good in my experience, not that i haven't had to grind a pad backing to slide properly, but it wasn't a design problem 1 was just sloppy.

I dont think my 320 ute has self adjusters
you have to do it manually

The handbrake worked previously to changing the pads?

seems like it's just a matter of going far enough in the right direction of adjustment, and there's probably a tab thing to push out of the way as you turn the knob, it can be annoying to do.

i hate drum brakes!!

good for even getting that far.

i bought the ute with the handbrake not working, had to replace rear seal axle, wheel cylinders, and brake shoes

I adjusted the handbrake and it wont pull anymore of the cable, too scared to over do it as the cables might snap and that'll be more headache
