Hey all, I've been lurking here for a few months now because I've been looking for a Datsun as a first car and I've been looking for some good sources for info on the net.
This site seems like one of the best ones.

Anyway, a question. I've found a '72 1200 Coupe for sale near me and I'm going to go have a look at it on saturday. It's just a rolling body but it comes with a A12 and a 4 speed box and all other required parts needed to get it up and running apart from gearbox mounts. A bit of rust around the rear guards and the lights but I have yet to see it for myself to see the severity.

I'd like to buy it as a project car and I'm wondering if there is anything in particular to look for with 1200s, any specific weak points?

I'd be very happy if anyone could help. Thanks.

I would want to buy one that is a registered going concern as original and is in the best condition that you can find/afford.

I dont know what your budget is but its cheaper in the long run to buy something good rather than do up one that needs work.
