how does lowering the rear end effect the drive shaft length?

I just bolted my hand brake back in using m8x60mm bolts and they're a little long i guess, since i hit a dip in the road and one of the bolts defiantly hit the drive shaft, but no harm, just need a shorter bolt. there was less than 1/2" clearance so i'm not surprised it hit.

back to the question, if the back of the car is lowered, does that mess with the drive shaft angles? can a car be lowered enough to need a slightly shorter drive shaft?

just curious...
