I am planning on taking the H150A out of my car in the next couple weeks. I will be swapping in a new center. I have a couple questions:
1. The center gasket, I assume I can get it just about anywhere? If not, please correct me and maybe give a part number?
2. The left side axle seal leaks. I have heard all kinds of words like "bend out the flange" and so on about re-building the axle seals and bearings. I do need to fix the seal as currently the lube slowly drains out into the left side drum assembly. Messy - and bad for the diff. If I am going to go that far can I easily replace the bearings as well and have a fully reconditioned rear when I am done? Bearing sizes/part numbers, experiences, advice on how to proceed would be appreciated.
3. I am doing this because my current center is getting so loud it is making my ears ring on the highway. I have never cracked the case on a diff before so I do not know what to expect. Should I pull the axles from the donor rear where I am getting my new(old) center? Will the gears be worn on the axles as well as the diff or should I see the real wear on the large gear only?
I am taking these parts out of an '81 210 and putting them into my H150A from a late model B210. The 210 drove nice and quiet before I yanked its guts out - so if there are parts in its rear that I can swap into the rear in my car I do want to do that.
Thanks for any advice/pointers!
