High compression head onto stock bottom end

I am about to receive my high compression high port high flowed oval port head, 4000-7500rpm cam, twin weber manifold and Mikuni carbs.
I was wondering what my chances are of installing the combo onto my stock 120Y bottom end without rebuilding it first as I am a few dollars short at the moment?
I won't be revving it past 6000RPM until it is rebuilt but I am anxious to get some more power!

Depends on the condition of your motor to some extent(if its reasonably fresh go for it).

If your only going to rev it to 6000rpm i wouldnt bother, you'll find the power the cam makes there isnt all that great. Also old engines dont like higher rpms than their used to. A slight ridge forms over years of the same low speed rpms and all of a sudden you increase the revs the pistons will rise up ever so slighty more ramming the top ring into the ridge. No need to explain what happens there.

it'll still work but you'll be getting no where near enough lift or duration of the valves and may find it hard to tune due to the amount of fuel going in.

still worth a try .....

Also to change the cam you realise you'll have to pull the whole engine out. Just for the amount of time spent i say wait a month till you have the money then go for it.

I agree I should wait a month for the extra cash to do the job right, I am just anxious to get it done right now!

What fuel will you be running for that sort of compression?
