Some 1200s have tailshafts with replaceable u-joints, others have non-replaceable.

A great shop will be able to change the "non-replaceable" ones with new ones, however most will be happy to sell you a new tailshaft.

Or try the wreckers. Early (71-73) utes will take a B110 or A12 B210 manual sedan/coupe/wagon shaft. Later utes will take a ute shaft, though B310 shafts may fit.

Hmmm, B10's have replaceable uni joints & these driveshafts may well be useable in 1200's.
These joints are fairly small & probably wouldn't hold up behind a CA18DET for long, but should be good behind a street A series engine. Using the B10 oil seal at the rear of the gearbox would be good too.

I have a driveshaft from a late B310 Wagon [WPB310, 60 series box, H150 diff] & it looks to be within a millimeter or two of being identical in length to my B10 shaft. These use larger uni joints & a bolt pattern that matches the larger H150/ H165 pinion flange.
A driveshaft company in Woolongong had converted mine to replaceabe joints while it was still in use with the previous owner, so it can be done.

Once again dodgeman, you are a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for that info. It might save me someday.

When I skim over responses in these threads, I always make sure I carefully read everything you say! Thanks again!

If you look for a B210 shaft, for use in a 1200, note that there are several B210 shafts:

1. For H145 diff
2. For H150 diff
3. For Borg Warner diff (in Australia)

So take the auto shaft you have and make sure the replacement shaft "back end" matches.
